REITs and InvITs Received Rs 9000 crore from Mutual Funds
Emerging investment instruments – REITs and InvITs look to be finally catching on with investors as mutual funds have invested nearly Rs 9000 crore in such units in the first nine months of the year.
According to the securities and exchange board of India analysis, the mutual fund managers have added Rs 451 crore in real estate investment trusts. They also invest about Rs 8,528 crore in infrastructure investment trusts.
MFs have raised their exposure in REITs and InvITs investment avenues over the past nine months. In September, the fund houses investments under REITs jumped to Rs 69 crore which is Rs 7 crore in January.
At the same time, InvITs investments raised to Rs 1,034 crore in Sep which is Rs 611 crore in January.
Recently, SEBI chairman witnessed a keen interest among the foreign investors in the US for REITs and InvITs.
During the meeting, the members were excited about emerging instruments such as REITs and InvITs, which have more than $10 billion asset size as on date.
In 2014, the SEBI had introduced new guidelines for REITs and InvITs. These guidelines revised in 2016 and 2017.
